Homecoming
Coming back home is always a special feeling – and every time it is different. I didn’t feel very touched on Friday evening, though, probably because I knew I would be leaving after ten days again anyway. But this time it struck me how green Switzerland is. Maybe it was the contrast to the dusty desert and the blue sea of the gulf.
I spent my precious ten days in Switzerland cleaning up my room (finally getting rid of some of my textbooks and notes from university), fighting the system (taxes, insurances, pension funds, bills, you name it) and meeting friends. Of course, ten days is not enough, so I apologize to all of those who I haven’t met during my stop over in Switzerland.
Some of those that I did meet, however, I hadn’t seen for quite a while, like the class mates from 5th and 6th grade at our reunion. It’s fun, but also strange, to discover that some of them already have children (even 7 year old daughter…), while others have become carpenters or fighter pilots for the Swiss army.
and leaving again…
Sitting here, waiting for my computer to finish his back up (just in case – we’re Swiss, after all) I don’t feel like leaving at all. It might have something to do with the fact that the Swiss summer has officially started last week with several days of more than 30 degrees Celsius. And with the river Aare almost reaching 18 degrees yesterday, my Bernese heart would like to stay here. Oh well, the temperature is supposed to drop considerably tomorrow, so maybe that will make things easier…
